Painting with Plant Extracts

In partnership with Transition Habitat Conservancy, Drawing Together will host an all ages art workshop to learn and create. Participants will learn about local plants and how to extract pigment from them. They will also learn about the importance of planting natives and avoiding invasives. Materials and instruction will be provided.

Local Wrightwood artist, Madalyn Tolliver, is a self taught artist with an interest in biology and is greatly inspired by nature. She uses an array of mediums and variations including ink and watercolor making, preserving insects, designing walking sticks, upcycling clothing, photography and different sorts of plant keeping.

This work is made possible by a grant from Conservation Lands Foundation’s new Art and Advocacy grant, awarded to Transition Habitat Conservancy. This grant was used to support artists in our community as well as bring nature-based education and empowerment to our local communities.
